The sun rose on the 27th February to see Terasea Hawk departing Labuan anchorage towing GSF RIG 140. She was due for a medium length voyage, to Zhoushan in China. By mid afternoon, Terasea was full away with the Rig 140.
Close communication was maintained between Transocean and POSH Terasea as well as the Rig and Vessels teams. With Capt Sergii Prakhov in command of Terasea Hawk, rig was certainly in safe hands.
Sailing past the coast of Philippines, Terasea Hawk’s crew looked wistfully East and thought of the families that they were working hard for.
Based on experience, the route East of Taiwan was chosen. While this meant additional sailing time, the safety factor made it a clear choice.
As the convoy neared the coast of China, the weather picked up and the Port of Zhoushan was unable to accommodate the arrival. Keeping the rig safely in open waters, Tug steamed till the weather cleared several days later when she was cleared to approach the port.
Finally, on the 27th March, Terasea Hawk handed over to local harbour tugs for them to bring the rig to her resting place in Zhoushan where she was due to be recycled.
We are glad to once again have a chance to work with Transocean and appreciate the acknowledgement from their Management at the end of a job well done.
Captain Serge and your crew,Thank you for a job well done. The collaboration, information sharing, and most importantly good seamanship is respected and appreciated.
